My Kiwi Halloween-een

Halloween in New Zealand is not the event that it is in the states. It has only been in the last several years that trick-or-treaters have appeared. There haven't been any of the trappings at the stores that usually appear in August prompting you to get your party sized individually wrapped candies (or lollies as is the Kiwification) and your vinyl Superman costume right now!! However, New Zealand loves to dress up. Within the first month of being in New Zealand I saw three different events with small groups in matching costume wandering (or running) around Wellington's streets in random and sometimes extreme costume.
Our Halloween event was a costume party housewarming :D scheduled for the 29th. Our theme: peripheral characters in Harry Potter. I warn you, do not underestimate the talent of the Kiwi! Our costumes were amazing, fun was had by all! Happy Halloween! The next party? Fancy dress as movies characters for Christmas!:D
