It's just an object lesson: don't be afraid to really look at why you do things and change them if they can be done better.
Glossary (for non-football people like me)
4th Down: Each team has 4 chances to move the ball 10 yards. 4th down is the last possession.
Punt: A kick that is usually used just prior to turning the ball over (4th down) in order to move the ball to a better defensive spot.
On-side kick: A kick that is purposely short in the hope that the kicking team can regain the ball before the opposition can control it.
